Town Hall with Obama in L.A.President Obama made a stop at the Miguel Contreras Learning Center in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, Mar. 19 in a town hall-style gathering, where the likes of Councilmember Eric Garcetti, Mayor Villaraigoso, Governor Schwarzenegger, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and actors Kal Penn and Peter Berg and a mix of regular folk gathered together to hear what the President had to say and see him in person. It was the coveted entry into the event that had people in line buzzing with excitement. Chris Campbell was the first person in line. Like most, he obtained tickets online. He was one of a select few who would be allowed to take a seat in the relatively intimate setting of the gymnasium. By all accounts it looked to hold just about 1,500 people. With many tickets going to Obama volunteers, city and government officials and supporters, there isn’t an exact count as to how many people actually got tickets through the online system. -Stephanie Yee |
